Context: Gabimaru the Hollow, a ninja on death row, is given a chance at a full pardon if he can retrieve the Elixir of Life from a mythical island known as Shinsenkyo. He travels there with his executioner, Yamada Asaemon Sagiri, only to discover the island is filled with horrifying monsters and immortal beings known as Lord Tensen. This season covers their arrival, the Island Arc, and the first half of the Lord Tensen Arc.
