DARLING in the FRANXX

DARLING in the FRANXX

Darling in the Franxx, DitF
FINISHED
Continuity Guide
Source is Original.
Context: In a post-apocalyptic future, humanity survives in mobile fortress cities (Plantations) and uses artificially created children to pilot mechas known as FRANXX in boy-girl pairs. The story follows Squad 13, particularly the failing prodigy Hiro and the horned, infamous pilot Zero Two, as they battle monstrous creatures called Klaxosaurs and slowly uncover the dark, philosophical truths of their dystopian world.
Continuation: The anime is an original story and concludes fully with Episode 24. However, there is a manga adaptation illustrated by Kentaro Yabuki. If you are interested in seeing a different path, the manga diverges significantly from the anime around Chapter 37 (Volume 4). It completely rewrites the final act of the story, skipping the controversial space battles and providing an alternate, arguably much happier ending.
Critical Note: A massive co-production between Studio Trigger and CloverWorks. The first 15 episodes are widely praised for their emotional character drama and stunning mecha action. However, the final third of the series introduces a sudden, massive plot twist involving an alien race (VIRM) that drastically changes the scale and tone of the show—a creative decision that remains highly divisive among the fanbase to this day.
Status: Finished.
